What Is Power BI Administration?

Power BI administration is a role that is assigned to users that require administrator privileges in the BI Admin portal but that do not need Office 365 administrator access. They enable the administrator to set and manage user and application settings in Power BI.

Power BI includes an administration portal for users that have Microsoft 365 Global Admin privileges or Power BI Service admin privileges. To use the portal, a user account must be marked as ‘Global Admin’ for a user within Microsoft 365, within the Azure Active Directory or another authorized user must assign the Power BI admin role to the user’s account.

The Power BI administration portal provides the ability control global tenant settings, view usage statistics and to link to a Microsoft 365 administration center that then enables the creation and management of user and group settings.
