Female life drawing is the act of drawing a live, nude female model. Sometimes called figure drawing, the purpose of this is to accurately reflect the human, in this case female, body. This type of drawing is particularly meaningful for us as human beings as we seek to understand and represent our physical form. This type of art has a rich tradition that goes back to antiquity and includes old masters such as Leonardo da Vinci who had a lifelong fascination with drawing the human body.
To achieve verisimilitude life drawing is always done with a nude model (male or female). Life model drawing seeks to represent the wide variety of body shapes and types that exist; to cover any part of the body necessarily means that the representation is not complete. Various poses are used to show the body in range of different positions and angles.
