The advantages of cloud computing is clear and it is estimated that nearly 80% of business have adopted it as an IT solution. Having a third party manage data and systems for an organization presents its own security challenges. Following are some cloud security solutions:
• Deterrence – tools to prevent attacks on the cloud system (such as software to prevent DDoS attacks)
• Preventive – this approach strengthens the system against known security breaches by reducing the vulnerabilities identified by attacks.
• Detection – systems must react when an attack is identified and have protective measures in place such as applying a security procedure or alerting security staff. Monitoring software is used to analyse potential attacks.
• Corrective – this approach to security attempts to reduce the effects of an intrusion by limiting the damage that can be caused. Restoring a backup, for example, is an example of the corrective approach.
