One of the best ways to learn how to do something is to surround yourself with others who are equally enthusiastic and then study the problem together. This is the general idea behind specialized learning experiences for children.
If one wants to learn about robotics, for example, send interested children off to a specialized robotics camp. Not only is the learning taking place on an advanced level, but the student body is comprised of the most intelligent and directly interested people. They want to learn, in other words and are not interested in having to poke along as would happen in a regular classroom environment.
Take the best students, the best instructors, and the most challenging topics, then simply get out of the way and watch how quickly kids can grasp complex concepts. It is unfortunate that all learning is not like this.
