Choosing A Weighted Blanket

Weighted blankets are a popular way to manage anxiety, stress, and even help alleviate insomnia. But these blankets can also cost a pretty penny. As with any investment, how do you pick the right product when choosing a weighted blanket?

What is the best weight?

Determining the perfect weight for you is step number one. General guidelines suggest selecting a weighted blanket that is about 10 percent of your total body weight. This means is you weigh in at 100 pounds, a 10 pound blanket is perfect for you.

The majority of weighted blankets on the market come in 10, 15, 20 or 25 pounds. If you find yourself in between the weight categories, it’s best to size up.

What kind of beads should your weighted blanket have?

Most weighted blankets are made from either glass beads or small plastic pellets. Glass and plastic beads are roughly the same size, but it’s important to remember glass tends to be a bit heavier. It also helps to look for a blanket that has a removable cover so it’s easy to wash.
