You won’t need any specific qualifications to be a Lancashire wedding photographer, although obviously photographic skill and experience is important. You’ll need to be able to capture that perfect pose or expression, and take photos indoors and outdoors, as the county has a number of popular outdoor wedding venues. It’s a job where listening to your client’s instructions are important, and making sure you take the photos they want. Being well organized, and having the latest equipment as well as reliable transportation are all essentials too. You should be prepared to work on Saturdays and during the evening, which is when you’ll be most in demand, and wedding photography is also somewhat seasonal. Finally, although many photographers rely on word of mouth for their commissions, you’ll need to market your skills, and that includes business cards, flyers posted around the county and a well designed website.
